I wasn’t going to post about this hike because the photos are not great, but that’s just part of spending time outdoors: sometimes you get the views, and sometimes the weather does not want to cooperate. Hilariously, the weather has not cooperated TWICE now (read about my first attempt here).
Summary
Length 10.9km
Elevation gain: 583m
Time: 3h ish
Starting point: Cypress Mountain parking lot
We started this hike in clouds, and I knew it would end in clouds, but I was holding on to hope that we’d see something at the top. We ran into snow near the summit, where a couple had just turned around because it was “too hard to get through”. That wasn’t exactly true; we just stomped down the snow, slid a little, and eventually made it to the top.
It was cloudy as can be at the summit, so put on my rain jacket and ate a carrot muffin. The hike was still fun and good exercise, despite not getting a view. Maybe I’ll never know what there is to see from Saint Marks Summit. But you know what they say, the third time’s the charm…
